From heroine to zeroine

I remember being vaguely disappointed when I heard that Carol Vorderman had signed up as some sort of advisor to the Tories. This didn't prepare me though for the full horror of her appearance on tonight's Question Time. Christ, when did she turn into such a horrible bitch?

  1. *Gasp* - goodness has nothing to do with it. And I thought Countdown was a lost cause since the death of Richard Whiteley.

  3. I didn't know that - does she still live there or has she deserted you for the glamour of Leeds?

  5. Quite mild criticism from you there Drew. She kept her Tory leanings pretty quiet and then when it looks like they're in with a chance, up she pops - loathsome.

  6. ha ha- quite. she seemed so mild mannered until then.

*snorts* i tried to watch but had to switch over- my neighbours can hear me through the wall, if i yell at the tv. she was bonkers. shouting is so tiring anyway. starkey seemed on form, from the little i saw; always worth a watch.

  7. Oh God! Starkey! It isn't only that I violently disagree with his politics, he's just such a preposterous, petulant, stunted little weasel of a man. I suspect he's deeply unhappy.

  8. yes, but he is always quality entertainment- well worth staying up to watch the american election for his outré snideism. he's so wild he's funny.

nice use of acoustic mirrors in your top ehader, btw- i love weird architecture.
war always such a great catalyst for inventors. we should have more wars.

  9. Hmm, we'll have to agree to disagree about Starkey - I just can't get past the fact that he's such an obnoxious prick.

Yes, the acoustic mirrors are very cool, though to be honest I'd really like a picture of the wedding palace in Tbilisi up there. But I've not found one with the right length width ratio.

I think for any innovation you have to have war between technologically equal states. And that's a bit risky isn't it? I mean, we might not win. Personally I'd rather our creative energies were focused on something like the exploration of outer space.

  10. i- regarding wartime innovation- i was referring more to SOE, bouncing bombs type stuff, dazzle ships and this book-

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Churchills-Wizards-British-Deception-1914-1945/dp/0571221955
low level stuff- less about pouring money into things, rather than taking a different look at things. dazzle was nothing to do with technology, just an understanding of optics.

by the way- you're not called paul, or nick, are you???

  11. I nearly mentioned Most Secret War by R.V. Jones - probably a bit narrower than the book you link to there, but highly readable.

And yes, I am called Paul or Nick. How might we know each other?
